Canvey Re-Start
Canvey Re-Start is an SEMH enhanced provision which is situated in Canvey Junior School. We aim to support KS2 pupils who are at risk of permanent exclusion in their current mainstream setting. Many pupils experience barriers to learning such Social, Emotional, Behavioural and Mental Health challenges.
The support we offer is tailored individually for each pupils’ needs, this could be in the form of in-school support, a part time placement or a full-time placement.
Placements are time limited with the expectation that each pupil returns to their referring school. We ensure that we work closely with other professionals, referring schools and parents to build trusting relationships as this is key to our success.
Our aim at Canvey Re-Start is to help our pupils recognise their full potential, increase their confidence in everyday life and learn strategies to cope/overcome potential barriers.
The staff in Canvey Re-Start are all fully trained and use a therapeutic approach to gain a deeper understanding of each pupils’ individual needs. It is a trauma perceptive practice whereby behaviour is recognised as a form of communication and pupils’ mental health and wellbeing is paramount.
In order to obtain a placement at Canvey Re-Start, a referral to the SEMH panel is required. Please contact the headteacher of your child’s school for further information or complete the referral form below.
