At Canvey Junior School, we follow the scheme of work set out by Sing Up, which is a way of teaching music, following the National Curriculum where all teachers are provided with a detailed lesson plan to support their subject knowledge. The Sing Up scheme of work is an online platform which provides access to a range of genres and skills for all pupils. Each teacher has their own login where they can adapt the scheme according to the needs of their pupils. There are a number of challenges and scaffolds available in each lesson. Music is taught once a week in the Music Hub, and we also sing as a school in our hymn practice assembly. In addition to this, we focus on a different composer each half-term to ensure all pupils have the opportunity to appreciate a wide range of artists and styles of music.
