Many children have fears and worries, and may feel sad and hopeless from time to time. Strong fears may appear at different times during development. For example, some children are often very distressed about being away from their parents, even if they are safe and cared for. Although some fears and worries are typical in children, persistent or extreme forms of fear and sadness could be due to anxiety. Here are some signs to look for.

What is the Parent helpline?
The helpline is for carers and parents of children and young people up to the age of 19 with concerns about their children’s education or development.
What will happen during a call?
You will talk to a qualified Educational Psychologist who will listen to your concerns and work with you to find a positive way forward.
What will happen after a call?
It will be a discrete piece of work with no follow up from the EP. The helpline is confidential and personal details will not be recorded and nor will information be passed onto other sources.
